Born in 1973 in Sherbrooke, Québec (Canada). Lives and works in Rennes (France) and Montréal (Canada). Julie-C. Fortier films short performances in which she submits her face to precise constraints. This performative play consist to figure herself as flat as an image to builds up a composite and unrealized self representation. As a repertory of acts, the differents video-performances can be reanimate in installation and public performances. She completed her master in media arts at the University of Québec in Montréal in 2000. She do performances and expose her installations since 1998 and her video works as been presented in numerous festivals. Her video Mechanical Rodeo was award in 2001 at the Internazionale Festival del Film d'Arte e di biografie d'Artista, Asolo (Italia), at the MediaArtLab Festival in Moscow (Russia) and at the Estavar-Llivia Video Festival (France/Spain).
