Cartas al Presidente Vicente Fax* de Jose Luis Boryes
Se
invita a participar en esta exposición performance colectivo del artista
interdisciplinario Juan José Díaz Infante. Se convoca a los
artistas y entusiastas del arte a adquirir la identidad de Jose Luis Boryes,
mejor conocido en su barrio como Pepe para firmar con su presencia una carta
gráfica. Esta exposición se desarrolla alrededor de una sesión
de fotografía donde todos los invitados podrán ser fotografiados,
la única condición es que tengan en su mano un machete, mismo
que será proporcionado por el Epicentro. Las fotografías que
se adquieran en este performance generarán en su momento una segunda
exposición y así sucesivamente, una célula orgánica
que recorra distintas galerías, Internet y lugares alternativos. El
motivo de este evento se genera a partir de los acontecimientos de los pasados
meses en los cuales 200 personas armadas con machete se presentaron al Aeropuerto
Internacional de la Ciudad de México a defender sus tierras.
Un segundo motivo es cuando 70 video artistas armados simple y sencillamente
con su derecho pidieron su propia obra de regreso del festival Vidarte y no
les dieron nada. Ambos casos ejemplos claros de una clase política
terriblemente incompetente. La metáfora de este proyecto es la advertencia
sobre la necesidad de generación de un nuevo lenguaje que tenga códigos
en común. ¿Quién es el responsable de generar este discurso?,
yo creo que el papel le corresponde a los artistas y a los intelectuales establecer
las reglas, los lenguajes y las metáforas indicadas. No perderse en
papeles que les corresponden a los otros políticos. La pregunta es
como reenseñar a nuestra clase política, al funcionario, burócrata,
el administrador, la persona designada a la autoridad que fácilmente
se le olvida que representa a la gente con la que se está peleando.
Es muy desafortunado que sea el lenguaje de la violencia el factor común
de nuestros tiempos y que sólo se le atienda a aquel que voltea un
camión o, aquel que se pone una capucha y secuestra a un gobernador
, las acciones de crítica y sugerencia no se pueden considerar como
movimientos de partidos de oposición tratando de debilitar el poder
o la gobernabilidad. La óptica del gobierno de hoy es de un pánico
aterrador, el que tienen y el que nos proyectan. Es muy importante recuperar
la palabra, recuperar la posibilidad de crítica, el proceso inteligente
de progreso y superar el cambio que no se dio.

to Vicente Fax* from Jose Luis Boryes
This is an invitation to all artists to participate in the collective performance
of the interdisciplinary artist Juan Jose Diaz Infante. We are calling to
asume the personality of the newly created Jose Luis Boryes, better known
as PEPE. The exhibition is a photo shooting sesion, in which all the guests
will be photographed with only one condition, that they hold a "machete"
in their hands, we will supply the weapon.
The photographs will generate a follow up exhibition and it will continue
through differrent galleries and alternative places.
The motif of this project is based on several happenings in the past months
in Mexico and the world. To mention the one the metaphoreis based is the one
in which 200 men armed with machetes demonstrated at the International AIrport
Benito Juarez in Mexico City. They represented a few people that refused to
sell their land (10% of the ejidos). They not only refused to sell, the civil
riot became so grotesque, that they closed roads and vandalized trucks and
buses. This social demonstration lead to the presidential decision to stop
the project of building a new airport in Mexico. The second event is the one
in which 70 video artists in a very good manner , through a letter asked for
their video work back at the failed festival Vidarte. Since the director Lola
Creel had fired 3 sets of curators and the whole thing had become a very disastrous
festival. Creel refused to give the work back. The metaphore of this project
calls for the generation of a language. To the official, the bureaucrat, administrator
or politician. Today´s pseudo leader forgets very rapidly the long term
interests that represents. It is very unfortunate that violence has to be
the only choice for action. It is very sad that a counterpoint or an opinion
that does not match the regime is thought of as terrorism or political attack.
It is very important to recuperate the word, the possibility of criticism,
intelligent processes of progress and recover the sense of civilization and
change that is not here today
